This page gives you all of the details about how we are using our School Sports Premium.
Sport Premium is a government funded payment aimed at improving and increasing the provision of PE in schools across the country. The amount of money paid is based on the number of pupils in the school and it is ring-fenced, meaning it has to be spent solely on PE.
At Brookfield Infant School, we are very keen to utilise this funding and make physical activity a hugely important part of school life. It is our hope that we will be able to offer children many opportunities to get involved in physical activity, sport and develop healthy life styles, before, during and after School. We currently offer a range of extra-curricular school sports clubs, through the course of the year, and with the extra funding, we hope to increase the provision to get even more children involved.
The new funding has provided us with the chance to employ the services of outside agencies and specialist coaches that can come into the school and provide specific PE support. We have already employed the services of a company, set up by the local School Games Organisers, who we have worked with for a number of years. By having a dedicated team to drive this focus in school we will be able to provide training for teachers to enable them to become more confident in the delivery of day to day aspects of PE. This will ultimately impact the children through higher quality, sustainable PE teaching.
Through the funding so far we have written a development plan to help us focus and create clear objectives on how we want the funding to impact the school and student, run staff training on fundamental movement skills and yoga, set up a Change 4 Life activity club, organised an athlete visit from Kola Adedoyin, British triple jump champion, created a playground challenge programme to help pupils be more active at lunch time, developed a scheme of work and lesson plans and provided professional development for staff.
As a School we are really excited about this funding and the many wonderful opportunities that will benefit the school and most importantly the children.
